Tried an admitted liability motor vehicle accident claim
Shareholder Christopher Drotzmann tried an admitted liability motor vehicle accident claim where the plaintiff sought damages of $850,000 and tried (unsuccessfully) to add a claim for $100,000 in punitive damages on the first day of trial. Plaintiff contended she suffered from a permanent injury to her dominant hand in the accident which would impact her ability to work as a registered nurse. The defense presented medical evidence that plaintiff’s hand injury was caused by an unrelated neurological condition. In closing, plaintiff’s counsel contended he underpled the case by $500,000 and as a result urged the jury to award the prayer. The jury returned a verdict of $104,301.
